# DNS

> Optidata DNS manages zones and records for your domains from the same console that runs your Cloud Compute instances, load balancers and IP addresses.

**Point names at the infrastructure you just deployed.** Manage domains and records in the Optidata console: A/AAAA, CNAME, and the basics you need to connect users to Compute, balancers, and reserved IPs.

## What you get

- **DNS zones:** Host DNS for the domains you control.
- **Common record types:** A/AAAA, CNAME, and supporting records for app traffic.
- **Same console:** DNS lives beside Compute and networking: fewer tools to juggle.
- **Pairs with reserved IPs:** Stable names on stable addresses when you need them.

## How it works

1. **Add the domain:** Create a DNS zone and update the nameservers at your domain registrar if needed.
2. **Create records:** Point names at instances, balancers, or reserved IPs.
3. **Verify resolution:** Confirm lookups before you cut traffic over.
