# IP Addresses

> Every Optidata Cloud Compute instance gets a public and a private IP. Additional public IPv4 addresses cost $5.00/month each. Prices as of Oct 6, 2026, Miami (US1), USD.

**Keep the address when the instance changes.** Reserve public IPs and attach them to Cloud Compute when you need a stable endpoint for DNS, allowlists, or failover.

## What you get

- **Reserved public IPs:** Hold an address independent of a single instance lifecycle.
- **Reattach on rebuild:** Move the IP when you replace or recover an instance.
- **Allowlist-friendly:** Give partners and firewalls an address that doesn't churn.
- **Visible in console:** See assignment, region, and status in one list.

## How it works

1. **Reserve:** Allocate a public IP in the region you need.
2. **Attach:** Bind it to a Cloud Compute instance.
3. **Reassign when needed:** Detach and move to another instance for failover.
