When to use each

OPTI-FLASH-NVME

  • The default and recommended disk for new volumes and boot disks in the pricing calculator.
  • Managed database nodes where tables are latency-sensitive.
  • Application data, logs and services with heavy reads and writes.

OPTI-COLD-HDD

  • Archives and backup copies you keep on a server.
  • Large datasets you read rarely, where cost per GB matters more than latency.
  • Cold data on a managed database node, such as archive tables.
