Create a managed database

MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, created from the Optidata console in four steps, private by default and backed up on a schedule.

To create a managed database on Optidata Cloud, open Managed Databases in the console and complete four steps: Region (Miami US1), Database (engine, version, size, disk, replicas), Network (private by default) and Backup (daily or weekly). The console shows the monthly total before you click create.

Before you start

  • An Optidata Cloud account. Create one in the console if you do not have it yet.
  • The network your applications use, so the database can sit on it with a private address.
  • If clients outside Optidata must connect, the IPv4 CIDR ranges you will allow.

Create the database

In the console, open Managed Databases and create a database. The wizard has four steps, in this order.

Region

Pick the region. Miami (US1) is the region available for Managed Databases, and the console shows your remaining quota beside it.

Database

Choose:

  • Engine and version: MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB. The most recent version is preselected.
  • Name for the database.
  • Size: a plan from 2 to 16 vCPU. Plan codes follow the pattern ohpd-db-<vcpu>c-<ram>gb-<engine>.
  • Disk: OPTI-FLASH-NVME or OPTI-COLD-HDD, from 50 GB to 10,000 GB per node.
  • Replicas: off, 2 or 4.
  • Automatic disk growth ceiling, in GB per node.

Network

The database is private by default, with an address on your network. To reach it from the internet, turn on Expose to the internet: the database gets a public IP, which may have a cost, and you must list the authorized networks as IPv4 CIDR ranges. The console warns you before you allow 0.0.0.0/0.

Backup

Choose daily or weekly backups and keep 1, 3 or 7 copies. Backups run between 01:00 and 05:00 UTC, at a time assigned to each database. Review the monthly total in the side panel and click create.

Engines, versions and plans

As listed in the console wizard on September 18, 2026:

EngineVersionsPlansTiers
MySQL8.4.7-7.1, 8.4.5-5.1, 8.0.44-35.14 sizes: 2 vCPU / 8 GB, 4 vCPU / 16 GB, 8 vCPU / 32 GB, 16 vCPU / 64 GBBasic to Professional, 525 to 4,425 connections
PostgreSQL18.1, 17.75 sizes, from 2 vCPU / 4 GB to 16 vCPU / 64 GBBasic to Enterprise, 128 to 1,280 connections, connection pool 20 to 60
MongoDB8.0.19-7, 8.0.17-6, 8.0.12-4, 7.0.30-16, 6.0.27-215 sizes, from 2 vCPU / 4 GB to 16 vCPU / 64 GBEvery size is a replica set

Storage and replicas

  • Storage per node: OPTI-FLASH-NVME or OPTI-COLD-HDD (NLSAS), from 50 GB to 10,000 GB, billed per GB. See Choose a disk.
  • Automatic disk growth is on by default. The disk grows when free space runs low, up to the ceiling you set per node. You pay only for what it grows, and you can change the ceiling later.
  • Replicas: off, 2 or 4. Each replica has its own disk and is billed at the plan price per node.

What it costs

The console adds up plan, replicas, storage and backup as you configure, and shows the monthly total before you create the database. Database plans are not on the public price list yet.

Backups include 50 GB of backup storage. Storage past that is billed per GB per month: the console catalog lists database backup at $0.03 per GB per month.

Frequently asked questions

Which database engines does Optidata Cloud manage?

MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. You pick the engine and the version when you create the database, and the most recent version is preselected.

In which region can I create a managed database?

Miami (US1). It is the region available for Managed Databases in the console.

Is a managed database reachable from the internet?

Not by default. The database gets a private address on your network. If you turn on Expose to the internet, it gets a public IP, which may have a cost, and only the IPv4 CIDR ranges you authorize can connect. The console warns you before you allow 0.0.0.0/0.

How are managed databases backed up?

Daily or weekly, keeping 1, 3 or 7 copies. Each database gets its own backup time between 01:00 and 05:00 UTC. 50 GB of backup storage is included, and storage past that is billed per GB per month.

How much does a managed database cost?

The console shows the monthly total for the plan, replicas, storage and backup before you create the database. Database plans are not on the public price list yet.

Can I run SQL Server on Optidata?

Not as a self-serve Managed Database. Managed Databases covers MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB. SQL Server is offered on Optidata Private Cloud, designed with an architect.
